In the days and weeks before a neighborhood giveaway, volunteers canvas neighborhoods to invite people to come receive food and clothing free of charge at local community centers. Men unload semitrucks and then teams of people bag bulk food items in generous family sized portions. When the “big day” arrives, busses and semitrucks begin rolling into the community center parking lot before dawn.
Hundreds of volunteers arrive to assist with traffic control, pray with people to receive Jesus and carry bags for the elderly. As Pastor Charles once stated, “We all live here. We are one big community. If we work to improve the quality of life for others, we improve our own. It’s hard to say who is more blessed - those receiving or those giving!” This is another example of ALFC church members’ tithes and offerings at work, partnered with the generous donations of other organizations, making a difference in our community!
