Don’t you just love receiving something new? Think about it, it doesn’t even have to be something exorbitant right? Just the fact that it’s new makes it special. Whether it’s a new pair of shoes, a new hairstyle, a new car, I think I can safely say that we all love having something new.
What I love about our God is that He not only knows that we have an affinity for “new”, but I really appreciate that He loves to give us new! Think about it, there are so many scriptures that show the heart of God that loves to give “new” things to His children, if you want to do some homework, here are some I think you’ll be blessed by:
• Ezekiel 36:24-26 (NLT) God replaces our hardened hearts for new, soft and tender hearts.
• Psalm 30:1-3 (NLT) God turns hears our cries of despair and His answer gives a new song of praise to sing.
You see, with God, things are always new! There is always a new reason to love Him, a new reason to praise and worship Him, a new perspective of His love for us. God is the source of all new things in our life, our fresh ideas, our fresh enthusiasm, the list could go on and on! One aspect of “new” that God brings to us, that I am especially grateful for, is the “new start” that He is so willing to give us, time and time again.
“God, make a fresh start in me, shape a Genesis week from the chaos of my life…” Psalm 51:10 (MSG)
Psalm 51 is a portion of scripture where David is baring his heart before God after he (David) essentially made every mistake imaginable with a woman named Bathsheba. Lying? Check. Adultery? Check. Murder? Check. This was David at his worst, and it was this context that David wrote from and confessed his sins to God.
Even though he had done some pretty horrible things, David recognized that the “new”ness his life required had nothing to do with him or his own ability, but completely depended on God’s creative power. Can I tell you today that the “new” that you’re yearning for, solely rests in God’s power.
Notice that David prayed for a “Genesis Week”. The “Genesis Week” references a time of chaos and disorder, where the presence of God enters and brings order and “new” life into the context. In a “Genesis Week” God’s divine grace, mercy and love for His people is displayed. This is the time where God’s supernatural, creative power can intervene in the worst moments of your life and give you a “Genesis” moment, where His grace and mercy bring a new order to your life.
I believe God is wanting to create new things in your life and in your heart. He wants to create new dreams and new visions, He wants to create new opportunities for your family to be restored and overcome! He wants to create new victories and new breakthroughs. Scripture promises us in Lamentations 3:23 that his mercy and love is brand new with every rising of the sun! God is all about making our lives brand new!
I don’t know what you’re facing, what you’ve done or where you’ve been, but I can confidently say that God is the “brand new” that you’ve been looking for! If He can do it for David, and if He can do it for me, I know He can do it for you!
Live Extraordinarily!
