You no longer have to strive to belong! You no longer have to perform to belong! You already belong! You are accepted in the “beloved”, or the “very dearly loved”, through Christ. As a very dearly loved child of God, your identity is one of:
Humility and generosity are built on the foundation of faithfulness. Let me put it this way: humility and generosity are fruit of a servant’s heart, but faithfulness is the soil that they are cultivated in. The extraordinary promises of God, accessed through humility and generosity, are not discovered in sporadic occurrences, they’re truly discovered in consistency, or faithfulness. Jesus put it this way:
Conventional fashion norms say don’t wear white after Labor Day. I’m not exactly sure where that came from, but I’m pretty positive that whoever came up with that didn’t live in a desert that still has 93°+ temperatures after Labor Day. I will say this, whether you’re in white jeans, or not, pride is something that you do not want to get caught wearing no matter what time of year it is. Now, please don’t mistake pride with confidence.
Live Great. Start Small.
Lately I’ve been reading a great book, “Outliers” by Malcolm Gladwell…by the way…as I step up on my soapbox, I want to encourage you to invest time in reading. Reading is to the mind, what exercise is to the body; and our awesome God gave us too great a mind to not exercise it regularly, take some time to read today!
Do you ever imagine yourself achieving greatness? What does your vision of greatness look like to you? Is it providing a great innovation in your field of expertise? Is it how you might be able to lead your family to success and prominence? Have you ever really thought about what “greatness” looks like to you?
In my experience, one of the surest ways to access the extraordinary life that God offers every believer is through serving. I’m telling you, when you and I allow the Holy Spirit to develop a servant’s heart in us, it opens the door for God to do extraordinary things in our lives!
We’re just ordinary people…with an EXTRA-ordinary God working through us.
